Trattandosi di un libro impaginato in modo molto semplice è stato facile curare il mantenimento di tutte le scelte editoriali dei redattori, rispettando i corsivi, i maiuscoletti, aggiungendo i collegamenti alle note e infine mantenendo l’aspetto grafico degli “smile” contenuti all’interno dei capitoli.

This is a book laid out in a very simple it was easy care maintenance of all the editorial decisions of the editors, respecting the italics, small capitals, adding links to notes and then keeping to the look and feel of the “smile” contained within chapters.

Punto Acuto ha realizzato l’eBook in versione ePub di “Tirature ’12 Graphic Novel. L’età adulta del fumetto” edito da il Saggiatore e dalla Fondazione Arnoldo e Alberto Mondadori.
Si tratta della pubblicazione annuale curata da Vittorio Spinazzola che quest’anno è dedicata, come recita il titolo, al Graphic Novel, il romanzo a fumetti.
Consigliato a tutti gli amanti di questo genere perché parla della sua nascita e di alcune delle pubblicazioni più note:

Il primo volume a fumetti che riporta in copertina la dicitura graphic novel, appare negli USA nel 1978. Si tratta del celebre Contratto con Dio di Will Eisner

Per quanto riguarda la realizzazione dell’eBook: è stata rivista tutta l’impaginazione per ottimizzarne la lettura sui vari supporti elettronici e nello stesso tempo si è cercato di mantenerla il più vicino possibile al libro stampato. È stata infatti mantenuta la font usata per i titoli e per i capilettera. Inoltre sono stati eliminati tutti gli a capi automatici, rinseriti tutti i maiuscoli e i maiuscoletti (come sanno gli addetti ai lavori sono peculiarità che nel passaggio tra impaginato ed eBook si possono perdere); stesso discorso per gli accenti inseriti in modo simulato per la stampa che sono stati inseriti correttamente per la visione con la font scelta.

Infine anche le tabelle sono state curate in modo da renderle disponibili per una visione più chiara anche sul piccolo supporto iPhone (sia nella nuova versione di lettura notturna che in quella tradizionale). Con un click le abbiamo a disposizione con titolo e didascalia sempre presenti.

È stata infine rielaborata graficamente una tabella di bassa qualità di modo da renderla adatta al supporto digitale e soprattutto con testo selezionabile (non più semplice immagine).

Pdf Tirature ’12 – Google Books Preview

Punto Acuto has created the eBooks in ePub version of “Tirature ’12 Graphic Novel. L’età adulta del fumetto” published by il Saggiatore and Fondazione Arnoldo e Alberto Mondadori.
This is the annual publication edited by Vittorio Spinazzola. This year is dedicated, as the title says, the Graphic Novel.
Recommended to all lovers of this genre because it speaks of his birth and some of the best-known publications:

As regards the realization of theeBook: has been revised throughout the layout to maximize the reading on the various electronic media and at the same time has tried to keep it as close as possible to the printed book. It was in fact maintained the font for the title and for drop cap.They were also eliminated all the leaders in automatic,entered all the uppercase and small caps (as they know the experts are peculiarities in the transition between paginated and eBook may be lost), the same argument applied to accents placed in a simulated printing that have been inserted properly viewed with the font choice.

Finally also tables have been treated to make them available for a clearer view on the small supportiPhone (both in the new version of that night reading in the traditional). With one click we have available with title e caption always present.

It was then revised to graph a table so low as to render it suitable for digital media and especially with selectable text (no longer a simple picture).

Durante le feste di Natale Punto Acuto ha continuato a lavorare realizzando alcuni eBook in versione ePub per il Saggiatore. Alcuni di questi titoli non sono ancora usciti nella versione cartacea, quindi non sono disponibili per l’acquisto nella versione digitale. Altri invece sono disponibili sull’eStore de il Saggiatore nella versione ePub realizzata da Punto Acuto: Tahrir e Esilio.

In the Christmas holidays Punto Acuto has created some eBooks in ePub version for il Saggiatore. Punto acuto ha realizzato l’eBook, nel formato ePub, del libro Mercanti dell’opera di Stefano Baia Curioni edito il Saggiatore. Si tratta di un saggio molto complesso ricco di immagini e tabelle.

Tutte le immagini sono state trattate in modo da renderle ridimensionabili su Adobe Digital Edition^® e su gli altri software o ereader che non riescono in automatico a ridimensionarle.

Le tabelle sono molto particolari. Alcune molto complesse, disposte su 12 colonne. Sono state trattate in modo da renderle leggibili anche su un piccolo lettore ereader, come l’iPhone, sia in orizzontale che in verticale. È stata mantenuta la struttura e anche la colorazione. Alcune celle erano evidenziate con un sfondo grigio, altre erano colorate (vedi screenshot). Tutte le particolarità sono state ottimizzate.

Per il testo è stato mantenuto il font con grazie (vedi screenshot) ormai segno distintivo per gli ePub de il Saggiatore, ricco di glifi. Per le tabelle è stato inserito un font senza grazie stretto e lungo, sempre ricco di glifi, scelto per ottimizzare la visualizzazione delle tabelle, soprattutto quelle con tante colonne. Ovviamente è stato mantenuto sia il colore di sfondo della cella che quello del font.

Punto acuto has made the eBook, in format ePub, of Mercanti dell’opera by Stefano Baia Curioni publisher byil Saggiatore. It’s wise very complex, full of images and tables. All the images have been processed so that make them resizable for Adobe Digital Edition^® and the other ereader.

The tables are very special. Some very complex, with 12 columns. Have been processed so that make them readable on a small ereader, as iPhone, both horizontally and vertically. It was maintained la structure and also the color. Some cells were highlighted with a gray background, others were colored (see screenshot). All the details have been optimized.

Punto acuto questa volta ha realizzato, oltre all’eBook, anche i file per la versione cartacea del libro “Il coraggio della filosofia” a cura di Pier Aldo Rovatti, pubblicato da il Saggiatore.
È una raccolta di saggi, dal 1951 ad oggi, tratti da “aut aut“, rivista trimestrale di filosofia e cultura, fondata a Milano nel 1951 da Enzo Paci.
In genere Punto acuto si occupa di realizzare gli eBook, in formato ePub, della rivista “aut aut“, sia dei numeri in pubblicazione attualmente, che quelli degli anni passati. Però molti dei saggi ripubblicati in questa raccolta erano disponibili solo nel formato cartaceo. È stato quindi necessario eseguire un lavoro di digitalizzazione per catturare il testo.

Punto acuto nel dettaglio si è occupato di rivedere alcune delle digitalizzazioni dei contenuti, per una migliore fedeltà con l’originale per quanto riguardava il riconoscimento delle note a piè pagina e dei caratteri greci. Il testo ottenuto è stato poi impaginato per realizzare i file per la stampa.
È stata eseguita la correzione di bozze e il successivo inserimento nel file elettronico. Ultimato il lavoro per il cartaceo è stato poi realizzato l’ePub de “Il coraggio della filosofia“.

Usually Punto acuto implement your eBooks in ePub format, the magazine “aut aut“, both numbers being published today, that those of past years. But many of the essays reprinted in this collection were available only in paper format. It was therefore necessary to run a scan job to capture the text.

Punto acuto in detail has been involved in reviewing some of the scans content for better fidelity to the original as regards the recognition of footnotes and Greek characters. The text obtained was then laid out to carry out the files for printing.
Did you follow the proof reading and subsequent inclusion in the electronic file. Completed the work for the paper was then made the ePub of “Il coraggio della filosofia“.

Punto acuto ha realizzato l’ePub del romanzo “Richard Yates” di Tao Lin, pubblicato da il Saggiatore. Pur trattandosi di un romanzo, senza apparati complessi, è stato realizzato tenendo a mente l’obiettivo fondamentale di garantire una lettura confortevole al lettore digitale. Il testo consiste in una semplice successione di paragrafi senza formattazioni particolari ma occorre sempre ricordare che quei singoli elementi formano il libro che andremo a leggere. Per questo gli stili associati devono avere, per esempio, margini, interlinea e dimensione del carattere confortevoli tali da rendere la lettura piacevole su tutti gli ereader.
I bassi costi di realizzazione per questo genere di ebook sono uno stimolo in più per gli editori ancora diffidenti per iniziare a muoversi nel mondo dell’editoria digitale. E per i più “navigati” un modo per proporre libri fuori catalogo nella nuova versione digitale.

Nella versione ePub è stata rispettata l’architettura dell’impaginato cartaceo, mantenendo la distinzione tra i font con grazie e quelli senza (come si può vedere nella prima immagine che segue) e tutte le formattazioni particolari.

Uno degli elementi specifici dell’impaginato cartaceo è il capolettera, che nella versione ePub è stato restituito con le stesse fattezze grafiche non tramite un’immagine ma ricorrendo a una proprietà specifica nel foglio di stile dell’ebook per far sì che il capolettera si adatti alle diverse dimensioni del font decise dal lettore.
Capita spesso che cercando di modificare le dimensioni di un testo tramite le funzioni dell’ereader, si noti che alcuni elementi non seguono il naturale ridimensionamento, ma restino fissi. Questo accade perché di frequente elementi testuali, che nell’impaginato originale erano stati formattati correttamente, vengono poi trasformati volutamente in immagini nella fase di conversione in ePub. Questa soluzione, paradossalmente, può essere ritenuta in un primo momento un buon compromesso (per esempio quando si hanno dei segni diacritici particolari e per cui non si trova il glifo corretto nel font free, oppure nel caso di capilettera particolari). Ma è sempre consigliabile utilizzare caratteri testuali fin tanto questi sono disponibili, per evitare una commistione mal riuscita di elementi.

Questo titolo fa parte della collana “La cultura” ma non ha un layout molto complesso (non ci sono tabelle e immagini) anche se sono presenti infratesti, citazioni e note. Nell’apparato delle note viene riportato un gran quantitativo di link a siti internet che Punto Acuto ha lavorato inserendo il link attivo alla pagina citata, così da permettere al lettore che legge l’ebook, con un supporto in grado di navigare su internet, di poter visitare con un solo click il sito menzionato (evitandogli il fastidio di dover ricopiare l’indirizzo nella barra dell’URL per renderlo realmente navigabile).

Nel dettaglio possiamo notare che le tabelle hanno la particolarità di avere un font (sans-serif o bastoni) differente rispetto a quello del testo (serif o con grazie) e questa distinzione, utile per il lettore, è stata mantenuta anche nella versione ePub.
